February 21 F-1 tornado rips through northwestern section of Scioto County causing damage in Otway, Rarden and Union Township areas. (National Weather Service Conducts Damage Assessment Locally).
February 25 10-inch snowfall blankets area, prompting emergency notifications and calls for assistance.
March 13-17 Local declaration of emergency for blizzard -- up to 18 inches of snow with usual emergency notifications, etc. (state emergency declaration with reimbursement of snow removal costs received for city, county, villages and townships).
April 8 Hazardous material incident on U.S. 52, Green Township, involving Cumene Hydroperoxide tanker just filled at Aristech Chemical. Chemical Leaman was the shipper, and Aristech the manufacturer. Emergency condition level one.
April 11 Local declaration of emergency for prison riot -- 11-day siege at Lucasville. Coordination of resource support and information sharing for sheriff, coroner, mass casualty team on standby, fire and EMS, Red Cross, SOCF command post, State of Ohio E
May 30 Violent thunderstorms roll through southern Ohio area accompanied by high winds, torrential rain and frequent lightening, small trees downed, no structural damage.
June 3 A small diesel fuel spill of approximately 100 G was reported by New Boston Fire Department from a semi at the rear of the Wal-Mart Shopping Plaza, which leaked into storm sewers system near Ohio River, emergency notifications for National Response
June 4 Strong storm system caused temporary flooding problems in city and county, tree limbs downed, clean up coordinated with sheriff, engineer and township fire departments.
June 28 Contaminated pond, Chamberlin Road, Vernon Township, EPA on scene requesting assistance with materials for clean up through Vernon Township Fire Department.
June 30 Storm system moves through causing tornadic damage, Emergency Public Information through EBS and other, damage assessment, and debris removal coordination, three separate tornadoes tracked on radar. (National Weather Service Damage Assessment coor
July 8 Township water emergency, Nile Township, Shawnee Park Lodge. Water transport coordinated with various fire departments, county health, EPA, Nile Township Fire Department and Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
July 8 Portsmouth Health Department Aluminum Chloro Hydroxide found in drums to be removed. Information sought on proper disposal, population and employees protection, etc.
August 18 State Route 140, 8,000 gallon diesel fuel spill in Hales Creek, with coordination of communications, fire support, shipper recovery and clean up, EPA reporting, fire support, resource management and usual notifications. One fatality from tanker on
August 26 Assistance requested for notification and technical advice for clean up of oil, fuel spill in Rosemount on Old Scioto Trail.
November 1 Crude copper Phthalacyanine spill, State Route 73/104, Rush Township. Paint pigment shipper Warner being asked for reimbursement for contaminated turn out gear and equipment for Rush Township Fire Department, and GTE Utility Crews called into service
November 9 Hazardous material incident, U.S. 52, Green Township of Sodium Hydroxide with coordination with shipper for clean up and recovery, Aristech for response information, ODOT Lawrence and Scioto counties, Green Fire Department for resource management
