Coming in 1995-96 STORMS Program Four of five precipitation gauges have been installed and will be online in 1995. The fifth will be sited and installed and put into operation in 1995 as well. The gauges have radio transmitters, automatic dumping and calibration for actual rain and snowfall amounts to be transmitted to the National Weather Service which will enhance warnings provided by NWS. This program was funded by the Ohio Legislature after Shadyside flooding in Jefferson and Belmont counties. Work towards establishment of a Haz Mat Response Team -- training, acquisition of equipment, etc. Improved coordination between local, state and federal agencies Acquisition of additional moneys for Scioto County political jurisdictions.
