Scioto County Economic Development Office
Scioto County's Economic Development Office helps coordinate business land use planning and infrastructure development within the county.The office works closely with the Southern Ohio Port Authority in the development and marketing of industrial sites and parks within the county. Business loans and small business consulting is available through referrals to Scioto County's Revolving Load Fund Office and through the region's Small Business Development Center in South Point, Ohio. Scioto County works closely with the Ohio Department of Development in offering tax incentives and tax abatements to encourage new business and industrial expansion within the county. Scioto County is a labor surplus area and tailored employee training programs exist through universities, vocational schools, JTPK, and an innovative vocational-industry supported Pre-Employment Training Program (PET). Financial incentive employment programs exist through Scioto County Department of Human Services that can help with the cost of hiring and training new employees. Scioto County's Commissioners are supportive of new business expansion and growth and are willing to work closely with businesses that create jobs for its citizens.
