Example of Your Tax Dollars At Work
Safety Projects

This year has been a very busy year for our road and bridge departments. Among the regular work performed we were able to fit in some extra projects which were major problems in the County.

Site distance projects were done on Kentucky Trail Raod and Swauger Valley Road. The dirt removed from these two site distance projects were used to widen berms and do some fill-in work on Swauger Valley Road, Woods Ridge Road, Greenbriar Road and Stout Hollow. We also widened the birm on Gallia Pike Road.

Dogwood Ridge Road also received some much needed improvements as we completed a curb and gutter project there.

Bridge Replacements

Swauger Valley bridge at the intersection of Riddlebarger Road: This bridge replacement was a great improvement for the area because of the angle of the bridge. Buses could not make the turn onto Swauger Valley Road without backing up and trying a couple of times. The County Bridge Department replaced this bridge for a cost of $42,366.63.

Primrose Lane Bridge was an Issue II Project. We received 80% funding from Ohio Public Works to do a total replacement of this bridge. We awarded the project to Dial Construction from Stockdale, Ohio, for $89,628.25.

A wooden bridge on Dutch Ridge Road was replaced with a box culvert for at cost of $16,793.00.

Our plan is to replace all the totally wooden bridges in the County within the next five years because they are high maintenance, one lane and limited weight capacity.
