"Early Agriculture in the Portsmouth Area"

This mural shows a picture of harvest time in a wheat field during the 1800s. Although wheat was the primary crop at that time, corn and various breeds of livestock are represented. Corn dolls can be seen at the top of the picture. These dolls were quite popular during the 1800s and were later seen at the "Korn Karnivals" in Portsmouth during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Completed in 1994.
