Shoe Manufacturing 1869-1977 The manufacture of shoes, one of two major industries in the Portsmouth area during the late 1800's and the early to mid-1900's, which have since passed from the local scene, is represented in this mural. Various pictures of shoe factories are shown along with adjunct industries such as Vulcan Corp. and Patterson Paper Box Company. Those shoe manufacturers illustrated include Selby's, Irving Drew, Excelsior and Williams. Completed in 1996.
